Principles and Guidance for Student Representation

Sets out the University’s procedure for ensuring that the role of, and the channels for, student representation are clear and effective.  Students might use this document to get information about what the role of student a representative is and how the University supports representatives in carrying it out.

Our expectations of you under this policy:

If you are a student representative you should use this document to make sure you are aware of your roles and responsibilities and how the University can help you to carry them out. If you are not a student representative this document will help you understand what student representatives do and how your representatives can help you.

Your expectations of us under this policy:

The University will work with the Students’ Union to ensure that student representatives are supported and clear about what their role is.  It will ensure that the work of student representatives is recognised and rewarded.  It will ensure that student representatives can feed the views and concerns of students to the University through channels such as Staff Student Liaison Committees.
