Procedure on Fitness to Study

This Procedure is one of two that underpins the Policy on Supporting Health, Fitness and Return to Study. Sometimes welfare issues arise that affect a student’s ability to study or, more generally, be a student at University.  The University wants to ensure students have access to support to help them succeed.  If there are concerns about the health, wellbeing, behaviour and/or conduct of a student, or their impact on others, the University may need to take action under this Procedure

Undergraduates, Taught postgraduates and Postgraduate Research students

Your expectations of us under this procedure:

This Procedure is used in cases where there have been concerns about the health, wellbeing, behaviour and/or conduct of a student, or their impact on others, and these concerns have not been resolved by more self-directed or routine support interventions.

A student’s health, wellbeing, behaviour and conduct can have an impact on their academic progression and wider university experience. Issues with any of these may affect a student’s fitness to study. This Procedure aims to help work with students to explore and address these issues with the aim that their University experience can continue with appropriate support.
